What is your address?
Postcode and house number are enough. An addition such as A or bis goes in its own field. You can look up any address in the Netherlands.
How does this check work?
Every energy label that a certified EP assessor registers after an inspection ends up in EP-Online: the national register maintained by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). A label is valid for ten years from the date of the inspection, and the register is public. Only such an assessor can put a label in it; nobody else can change or extend one.
This check queries the register for the address you enter and shows what is on file, unchanged: the label class, the registration date, the date until which it is valid and the building type. No label was found. Why?
There are three ordinary explanations. No label was ever requested, which is common for homes that have not been sold or let for a long time. The label has expired, and expired labels drop out of the register. Or it dates from before 2015, which is not always retrievable.

My label has expired
An energy label is valid for ten years. After that it lapses, and you need a new one when selling, letting or handing over a property. A fresh assessment is not a formality: if insulation or a heat pump was added in the meantime, the new class is often better.
My label predates 2021
Then it was calculated with the old method. NTA 8800 has applied since 1 January 2021; it calculates differently and demands more evidence. A label from before that date stays valid until its expiry date, but a new assessment can land on a different class, in either direction. See how an energy label is calculated.

Retrieving an energy label: how does it work?
There is nothing to apply for and nothing to log into. Registered energy labels are public: they are held in EP-Online, the national register run by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. Enter your postcode and house number above and you see straight away what is on file for that address.
That applies to every address in the Netherlands, not only your own. If you want to know the label of a house you are considering, you look it up the same way. On a sale the seller is also required to hand you the label.

Frequently asked questions
Is checking an energy label free?
Yes. Looking up a registered energy label in EP-Online costs nothing, including through this page. You only pay when a new label has to be assessed.
Why is my energy label not in EP-Online?
Three ordinary explanations: no label was ever requested, the label has expired (labels are valid for ten years), or it dates from before 2015. Expired labels are no longer shown.
Can I look up the label of another property?
Yes. EP-Online is a public register. You can look up any address, for instance a home you are considering buying or renting.
How soon does a new label appear in the register?
An assessor registers the label right after the assessment. It is usually retrievable in EP-Online within a few working days.
