EP-Online: the Dutch energy label register
EP-Online is the official database holding every registered energy label in the Netherlands, maintained by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. If a label is not in it, it does not formally exist.
In short
- Every certified EP advisor records an assessed label in EP-Online.
- Per address it shows the label class, the registration date, the validity, the year of construction and the calculation method.
- Labels are valid for ten years; expired labels are no longer shown.
- Only a certified EP advisor may register a label, after an assessment on site.

What is EP-Online?
EP-Online is the register in which every certified EP advisor records an assessed energy label. RVO maintains it. Civil-law notaries, estate agents, tenants and municipalities consult it to check whether a property has a valid label.
Registration is the moment a label truly exists. Without registration in EP-Online you hold nothing at a transfer.
Look up your own label
You can do that below, with a postcode and house number. We fetch the data straight from EP-Online and show it unchanged.
What is your address?
Postcode and house number are enough. An addition such as A or bis goes in its own field. You can look up any address in the Netherlands.
My property is not in it
The register holds only valid, registered labels. If your property is missing, no label was ever requested, it has expired, or it dates from before 2015. Expired labels are no longer shown.
That is not a problem as long as you do nothing with the property. When selling, letting or handing over, you do need a valid label.

How to read a registered label
The register shows more per address than the letter alone. This is what the fields mean:
- Label class: the letter, from A++++ to G.
- Primary fossil energy use in kWh per square metre per year: the figure the letter follows from. Labels from before 2021 do not have this figure; they were calculated with the old method and stay valid until their end date.
- Assessment date and registration date: the assessment is the advisor's visit, the registration the moment the label officially exists. The ten-year validity runs from the assessment date.
- Valid until: after this date the register no longer shows the label.
- Certificate holder: the advisor's company that filed the label. That is where you go when something is wrong.
Is the label wrong?
An advisor files a label on the basis of what they saw and could prove during the assessment. If you think it is too low, these are the steps:
- Ask the advisor to explain. The difference is often insulation that could not be proven. With invoices or photos the advisor can revise the assessment and file again.
- Have a new label assessed. A newer label automatically replaces the old one in EP-Online. That is also the route after a renovation: you do not have to wait until the old label expires.
- File a complaint with the advisor's certification body if you suspect the assessment was not done by the rules. Every certified advisor falls under such a body; its name is on the certificate.
You cannot change anything in the register yourself, not even as the owner. That is deliberate: only a verified assessment may produce a label.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between EP-Online and an energy label?
The energy label is the outcome of an assessment. EP-Online is the register in which that outcome is officially recorded. Without registration in EP-Online, a label does not formally exist.
Can I add a label to EP-Online myself?
No. Only a certified EP advisor can register, and only on the basis of an on-site assessment with supporting evidence. That is exactly what makes the register trustworthy.
Is the data in EP-Online public?
Yes. The register exists so that a buyer, tenant, estate agent or notary can check whether a property holds a valid label.
My label in EP-Online is wrong. What now?
Contact the advisor who registered it; they can submit a correction. If that is not possible, a new assessment is needed.
